Shropshire and Telford at the Heart of UK's Largest Connectivity Audit

Two councils in the West Midlands are at the centre of what has been described as the UK's largest connectivity audit, using Streetwave to map mobile coverage across a vast rural area.

Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin Council have joined forces with Streetwave to undertake what has been described as the UK’s largest local authority connectivity audit.

The project covers a vast area of the West Midlands, including some of England’s most sparsely populated rural territory. Council vehicles, including refuse lorries, highways maintenance vans and other fleet assets, have been fitted with Streetwave sensors to collect comprehensive coverage data across the councils’ combined area.

The resulting dataset will be used to identify coverage blackspots, engage with operators about remediation and provide residents and businesses with accurate information about connectivity in their area through a public-facing coverage tool.
